>>1899548>Ooarai and FutabaSo going tanking? Regarding your trip though there are a few points you have to be aware about:
- It takes around two and a half hours to travel from Kawasaki to Ooarai at the quickest
- The number of trains that stops in Futaba are sparse.
- Which direction do you want to go after staying in Futaba. (Back to Tokyo Metro or towards Sendai)
The following is done using Google Maps (lel) and Jorudan using next Monday as a reference point, and since you are claiming going there in May the schedule might be different depending on whether it is Golden Week or not
Leg 1: Kawasaki to Ooarai
Kawasaki 6:23 am > Ueno 6:46 am (Ueno-Tokyo Line, do NOT take the Keihin-Tohoku Line because that stops in every stop and is stupidly slow)
Ueno 7:00 am > Mito 8:10 am (Ltd. Express Hitachi 1)
Mito 8:33 am > Ooarai 8:49 am
Leg 2: Ooarai to Futaba
Ooarai 10:45 am > Mito 10:55 am
Mito 11:06 am > Iwaki 12:07 pm (Ltd. Express Hitachi 7)
Iwaki 12:14 pm > Futaba 1:12 pm (If you miss this one you are screwed since the next train that stops at Futaba doesn't arrive until 3 pm or so and you won't get to Futaba until 4 pm)
Leg 3: Futaba to Tokyo / Sendai
To Tokyo: Futaba 5:29 pm > Tokyo 8:45 pm (Ltd. Express Hitachi 26, as I said before the train service is stupidly sparse in Futaba and you don't get a southbound local train to Mito until close to 5 pm since you want to stay in there for at least two hours)
To Sendai: Futaba 4:00 pm > Sendai 5:25 pm (Ltd. Express Hitachi 13)
