But I also don't want to spend too much money on it - in case I end up not liking them or breaking it by accidentally abusing it by doing something an mtb would shrug off out of habit. My goal is not to be competitive in any sense, just get a general feel for what a road bike is to ride and commute on in all kinds of conditions, and how it compares with the mountain bikes I've ridden all my life.
Is it a good idea to get a cheap, shitty new bike like pic related? Or should I rather spend god knows how long trying to find something better on the used market? Or perhaps I should just give up the idea of getting a road bike under 1500 eurodollars?
