>>1315825Here's a pic I took of the PCC the other day. Some of the paint looks fucked up because they removed an advertising wrap and I guess figure it'll be covered again soon. I hate that they need to do it as a revenue stream, but it helps keep everything running and fare-free. I'm just surprised they're changing the wrap so soon.
This car (4614) was bought by MATA in the mid-90's when TTC was offloading their PCC fleet, alongside its sister 4613. It was stored over at the DART light rail yard for 20 years (4613 and MATA's former Tandy Subway car are still there), until its restoration was started due to the failure of the restoration of a former Dallas Railway & Terminal turned Boston MTBA PCC. Said car had been stored outside for ages, after decades of running over the salted roads of Boston, and for the money that was available (I think around $250,000), restoration was impossible, given that it would essentially require refabricating a large percentage of the body. Such a fucking shame. But at least we have two operating PCCs now.
