Although a hot air dirigible does split the difference somewhat. They just seem to combine the worst of both platforms, with the hot air balloon's low speed and susceptibility to even mild weather AND a blimp's complexity and need for a ground crew.
At least they're cheaper like hot air balloons are, and they can be a e s t h e t i c AF.
