>>1373093You can degrease the whole chain, it just requires an annoying autistic setup to wash it with like 3 different solvents. There's some australian madlad on youtube who shows how to do it and I don't want to go through the hassle when handling such chemicals in the space I have.
It's not as bad as sheldon's april fools but it's still not worth doing for me.
>>1373094You have to melt the wax in a container and dunk the whole chain in while it's at its thinnest so it wicks into the small spots. Once you have a clean chain its as easy as just heating it, submerging, waiting a while so it can work in, pulling it out and giving it another shorter dunk just to make sure before wiping off the excess and letting it cool.
I use wax to coat exposed steel where paint scratched off and to help against water ingress in some areas like the seat tube.
