>>1366072The flight training is good here, and in my opinion the level of instruction is much better than part 61 training elsewhere. Every time I get a part 61 student that starts the training in instrument I’m appalled at the level of background knowledge from their private pilot training. The price is about what you’d find at other part 141 schools though. The real expensive part is tuition; it is very pricey comparatively speaking. Now, I thoroughly enjoyed my degree program and learned a lot, but that was a few years ago and some of the professors have retired, so I can’t vouch for the new ones. The ROTC programs are good, but require lots of dedication and time (patience..). I didn’t do them but had some buddies do it. Most of them are not pilots; from what I understand the Air Force likes pilots with engineering degrees because they aren’t just hiring a pilot, but someone they can place in other slots if necessary. They do offer scholarships and I know the flight department is trying to create a pathway program for easier transition to flying slots for flight students.
