>>1233831>Sounds like you ride a lot in the flats where this works just fine. You tell me - pic related. Rode this four days ago. 44 front, 11-36 rear. So less range then a typical double. If I could, I would switch to something lower here and there, but, honestly, it wasn't bad. I actually live in a fairly hilly place and I have 50kms from some sensible mountains with several categorized climbs.
>I wouldn`t, I would rather buy a 2x11-13, have a tight spaced cassette rear and a 50/34 chainset. You and me both. However - I counted on something similar in MTBs. Nowadays virtually all new bikes are 1x only. People dropped 2x as soon as they could.
> In the flats maybe, in the hills that is verry little.decade ago people were fighting tooth and nail with me convincing me that 53/39 + 11-23 is sufficient for anything. People will adapt if they get the feature they desire. I rode 42/32/22 + 11-18 8 speed then.
> Source?I run one at this moment. I make chainrings in my little workshop and I've been testing this for the last 5 years. Essentially - with rigid frame, high chain wrap on the chainring ( 44+ rings ) and shortish cage you can completely forgo clutch on a bike. Road with its smooth riding especially.
