>>1649425A good idea, but there already exists an alternative - which has the same problem! Let's zoom out a little bit, the original roundabout I mentioned is on the left. The blue lines, as before, are the industrial traffic, and the red lines are the traffic arteries. You can see the size of the industrial areas to the south and east, and the residential areas beginning to the north.
There are actually *two* roundabouts in short succession, that (I guess) are at, or have exceeded, their design capacity from when they were created 40-50 years ago. Unfortunately, there is no room to rebuild the roads or junctions - on busy days, the traffic will build-up along the red lines between both roundabouts (and sometimes further out to the east.
If this were Cities:Skylines or something, I would link both roundabouts with an elevated highway, and have the industrial traffic connect using dedicated on/off-ramps in the middle. But, that would be incredibly expensive, require years of demolition and construction, make traffic even *worse* in the meantime...
