>>1162797I used to be a tool cool for school petrolhead, almost irredeemable from age 16 to 26. From aut/o/s to motorcycles, I even managed to own two cars that are sought after these days (an FC and an S13). Up until 16 I was bikelife because it was all I had until I started driving and loved the ease of it, the car culture, giving people rides and stuff but it gets old quick, especially if you live in a city like I do with HEAVY grid lock that can extend a short 4 mile drive into an hour long venture anxiously sitting inside a steel cage impatiently waiting for the next green light to turn. Then the same thing back. On the heaviest of rush hours, I can bike the 4 miles faster than it takes to drive it. My city can have real shit traffic regardless of direction.
I still rode while I drove but mostly for leisure and recreation (ironically it was also the time I went from road biking to mtbing). 2 years ago, I eventually wanted to lighten my bills, get fitter, and be happier so I pulled the trigger and sold my 2015 econobox. My bills now are almost non existent since I don't have to worry about registration, insurance, gas, car payment, city stickers, parking fees, tickets, etc. I do eat A LOT more due to food being my primary fuel source but it's helluva lot better paying for food than paying for gas.
