At least with a BMX bike, the little tires get going real easy and your gearing is to get you up speed for dropping in at the skate park or pump track and you pedal to keep that speed at your ideal range. A fixie is compromise. From the ones I've ridden, there's a very narrow window when the gear is not too short, not too tall. Hard to find that baby bear ratio is all Im saying
