I asked at ZVV about the low-floor Tram 2000 units ("Sänfte"), they aren't sure yet what will happen to these, they will certainly be replaced by the end of 2030. Maybe they want to wait and see how the new ones work out to order more or look for a different model. Or maybe replace them partially but keep them for backup use. Who knows.
There's 23 of these trams plus 15 trailers (trailers are 100% high-floor), and they will continue operating both with and without trailer.
This would mean that only the 15 trailers of the second series of '92-'93 will be kept, and the 20 trailers from the first series scrapped. I'm a bit surprised they didn't keep some of the older trailers to have all Sänfte trams permanently equipped with trailers.
