I don't really cycle anymore since I live in the city, but I have this old bike and I'm wondering if it would be worth fixing up and replacing parts?
It's a Miyata Triplecross from the early-mid 1990s (I THINK 1993 specifically) from what I can gather. They are a Japanese bike manufacturer.
I have no idea what kind of bike it is, but when I search it up, people refer to it as a "xbike" or "cyclocross" - whatever the fuck that means. From Wikipedia:
>A top-of-the-line "cross" bikes (which included the Alumicross, Quickcross, Sportcross, and Triplecross). The Alumicross was introduced in the late 1980s with standard-size aluminum main tubes bonded to steel lugs and a Chromo fork. Seat and chain stays are steel, with the seat post binder bolt holding the seat stays to the seat post lug. The Quick, Sport, and Triplecross were triple-butted cromoly.
I have no interest in cyclocross sport, I just want to be able to use it to get around the city and take the occasional trip in rural areas. Would it be worth fixing up and upgrading for this? Or would it make more sense to just invest in a bike suited for this kind of riding?
