>>1170646You need a 26" tyre with a smooth to slightly knobby texture, depending on the type of terrain you ride. The texture of the tyre effects speed more than the width. Puncture resistance is a must on a commuter. I prefer to have as big of a tyre as I can get in a frame because I enjoy being comfortable when getting on light gravel/shit roads while commuting.
There are many good options so I won't name them all but check out Maxxis, Continental and Schwalbe tyres that are fat, smoothish, puncture resistant and fit your budget.
