I'm in the middle of building a (new) bike and thus far my price point is much lower at a much higher spec than buying the full bike (I'm going mechanical though, so kinda apples to oranges). I'm almost 2k under the full build, maybe more, I haven't really been paying attention. Im under $3k ish for a ti frame, carbon everything else bike that weighs somewhere around 7lbs in the picture (groupset and tyres in the mail, I also had a could parts laying around) with no chinesium anywhere. You can absolutely find deals, especially right now when companies are making such dramatic changes between model years (mechanical to electronic). There's NOS stuff that's only a season or two old that's selling for less than half of msrp because it's not Wi-Fi enabled or whatever silly shit people think should be on a bike.
