As the train accelerated away from the City Hall station with her running alongside trying to pull her hand free, we discovered those big red 'Emergency Stop' buttons do nothing but flash an indicator on the drivers panel who may then elect to stop if they feel like it. She fell when the speed was too great and her hand pulled free.
