>>1480564The Steamroller can take up to 700x38 or 650bx47. From what I've seen the 700x38 tires have less clearance than the 650bx47, so from a foot strike standpoint the 650s should be fine. I think.
I've been endeavoring to read everything I can online about people running 650bx47 tires on Steamrollers and so far I haven't heard a single negative. People seem to love it.
According to a bike calculator:
>700 x 38 has a total rim+tire diameter of 698mm>650b x 50 has a total rim+tire diameter of 684mm>700c x 32 has a total rim+tire diameter of 686mmThe bike calc didn't have data for 650b x 47mm specifically, but clearly if Surly says 700x38 tires will fit without issues and 700x32 tires fit then 650b x 47mm should fit without any toe strike issues at all.
At least, that's my thinking! Maybe I'm missing something. I get pretty confused by a lot of this stuff.
Here's another pic of a Steamroller with 650b x 47 tires so you can see the clearance. Doesn't look bad at all.
