It's an industry with extremely high barriers to entry (metric buttloads of money needed up front, enough trained engineers/designers, mechanics, etc.) so Boeing and Airbus pretty much have a stranglehold on the market. For smaller commercial jets (puddle-jumpers) it's the same deal with Embraer and Bombardier, essentially.
But if you look at the bigger picture, the number of models and manufacturers widen considerably.
