SKYTRAIN:
The SIPEM system has advantages over conventional tram systems. It doen't need doesn't drivers (a valuable ressource these days) and has a very small footprint for its infrastructure. It's also very adaptive to curves and inclines.
The new skytrain would replace U81 and regularly ride between Flughafen Bf and Freiligrathplatz. With new cars, the line could run with 3-5 minute headways. It doesn't only serve the airport, but also provides a fast connection for passengers from northern Düsseldorf to the Ruhr area. At Zeisigweg and Freiligrathplatz, connections to circle line M2 can be made. Messe Süd would only be served on exhibition days.
