>>1594898American HO is a smaller scale than British OO. It doesn't sound like a lot on paper but when you see them side by side it's more substantial than you'd expect. The locos generally end up around the same overall size because British prototypes are smaller but details like cab controls are quite a bit bigger and therefore easier to do on OO.
