Mt. Shirane is famous for the beautiful crater lake on its peak. I hauled ass up this mountain hoping to make it to the monkey park before it closed at 5pm. (The sun sets from 5 - 5:30 in Japan in October) Unfortunately, when I reached the pass I found that the road was closed. Apparently there's currently a very high risk of Shirane erupting, and the area 1km around the crater is restricted. I had to turn around and go back to the point where I'd deviated from Length of Japan.
Obviously, this is not my photo. I really hope I did some shooting with my film camera on this ride because I don't seem to have many digital shots from the Shirane Pass, which was gorgeous.
