i agree the shellac and twine is kinda ridiculous but like fuck it why not? Fancy bartape can be really expensive, so shellacking cheap cloth tape then makes sense because you're not even wasting money in the scheme of things because bartape shit is often expensive anyway. I always fucking hated cork tape too. Any tape that breaks when you pull it tight is just bullshit imo.
anyway i'm not gonna do it, because i can't get cloth tape cheaply. I'll try get some one day. It does look cool
I bought those celeste grips and i've got spare fizik classic black tape to wrap the tops, or pink or yellow bontranger stuff. See how that looks. I can wrap tape over the grips if they clash or whatever, like the blue lug guys do in that video.
