>>1768886Yeah, later ones could look good too. It seems to kinda depend on the wheel arrangement as well. The huge boiler/small wheels looks fine on, say, the 2-10-20-2.
Pic related was meant for mixed service, unlike American Mastodons which were almost exclusively freight only. (The drivers of this one actually intruded into the firebox a little--only possible cause oil fired.) Actually these were slightly larger than the N&W M2, but much better looking. (The elesco helps too, though they seem to have lost em later in life.) I think the weird triple expansion D&H loco is the only 4-8-0 to be larger.
