Pic related was meant for mixed service, unlike American Mastodons which were almost exclusively freight only. (The drivers of this one actually intruded into the firebox a little--only possible cause oil fired.) Actually these were slightly larger than the N&W M2, but much better looking. (The elesco helps too, though they seem to have lost em later in life.) I think the weird triple expansion D&H loco is the only 4-8-0 to be larger.
