You’re basically saying the fork flexes so much that white lower bridge is almost touching the stanchion tubes?
I mean you could open it up and tighten everything, odds are there’s just a spring in the left side and a basic damper, or possibly nothing in the right side. That spring might be causing the clicking noise but if your fork is flexing so badly it could be something else.
I’d check the wheel hubs and the brake mounts for play too, and really give the headset a hard tug. First thing I thought was a loose headset, and braking is a really heavy force so really pull hard if you’re trying to feel for headset play
If it’s the fork, I’d open it up, maybe pull out the damper if it since it probably broke a decade ago and tighten everything, maybe it’ll help maybe not
