>>1809495If someone has made up their mind that something cheap is 'good enough' it's near impossible to change their minds. Sometimes we just have to learn the hard way.
>>18094921 mile is not a very long descent and 8% max not very steep, so I wouldn't worry about your brakes unless you're heavy and riding your brakes all the time. But you shouldn't be riding your brakes in any case - it may be that you need practice to gain confidence, or if your brakes are working so poorly that they don't stop you effectively, in which case maintenance/repair is the answer.
>>1809491No, that frame's geometry isn't conducive to being turned into a road bike (add drop bars, raise saddle), your center of gravity will be too far forwards and handling would not be great.
>>1809480>>1809488Walmart bikes are fine as long as you understand they're disposable bike-shaped objects. Even if you take a brand new one and grease all the bearings and true the wheels better than they come from the factory it will not hold up to wear and tear for more than a few months of serious use. For a 2 mile commute though, that's such a short trip it almost doesn't matter what bike you have as long as it's not much too big/small for you to ride comfortably.
