Carbs are just as important as proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals but when it comes to carbs, there's different types of carbs. There's simple and complex carbs which has different glycemic indexes. The worst carb of course is refined sugars, avoid those if you can unless you need quick emergency energy ASAP. As

Now the difficult aspect here is what constitutes a balanced diet? The truth is, we're all different. Some of us are bigger or smaller than others, more or less active, with different metabolic rates and caloric needs along with varying efficiencies in processing nutrients. You're going to need to find your balanced diet but as long as you don't subscribe to those idiotic diets of leaving out carbs or proteins or fat completely, you'll be alright.
Too much or too little of one thing is bad. Just remember, balance is key.
