had a Bike shop run by a old English guy living in Germany. Tiny shop cluttered with bikes and spare parts. unique smell of tires and oil.
As kid i once buggered my rear dérailleur the old guy bend the hanger back to shape and adjusted the shifting. he wanted 3€ for it.
Sadly passed away from a aggressive cancer a few years ago
new bike shop wants 60€ for a Bike inspection. which is just a visible check if anything is loose, if the brakes and shifter works.
Then they probably change lots of stuff, oh we put on a new chain since it was close to being worn, and we replaced that one cable and two brake pads. that be 220€+60€.
I really want to take my beater to them and if they replace anything without asking me i demand that they put the old parts back on the bike.
