Thoughts on this bike? I want to upgrade from an older trek domane aluminum frame I've been riding for almost a decade now.
The only difference between this Domane and the more expensive models as far as I can tell is the wireless drivetrain and non-aero wheels. Honestly I had no fucking idea bike wheels were so expensive, when I looked at the prices for the SL6 and 7 wheels the 7 had the rear wheel cost over $800. and you get with that, what, like 0.5lb less weight per wheel or something like that? Just doesn't seem worth it considering this model is $3500 and an SL6 is $4700, and SL7 $6800.
It has a 105 groupset (my current bike has claris) and I really need something that's comfortable for riding around 40-50 miles non-stop 4-5 times a week.
From the research I've done, the main difference between the Ultegra and 105 is that Ultegra is slightly lighter components / durability, which isn't really an issue for me. I do want to ride faster than I currently do but I'm also a Fred so I'm not trying to kill myself when I ride pushing to the absolute limit.
Also, a wireless drivetrain seems like a meme to me, I can't see why over $1200+ more is worth a wireless system and some slightly better wheels when the frame and other components are all basically the same.
