Is it worth it to upgrade budget mountain bikes? I do everything on my mountain bike - street, gravel, trail, etc. Shifting isn’t the best and there have been many times I feel like I need more braking power. I enjoy this bike a lot, but would like some quality of life upgrades, like hydraulic brakes, remote fork lockout, and single speed crank. Would I be better off just buying a new bike, or could I get away with just replacing these specific parts? I’ve heard lots of advice against upgrading the whole drivetrain on cheaper bikes. Can someone elaborate on why?
