And though short, it forms a vital link between the subway, and a funicular running up the hill, where there's a church and a small amusement park that even keeps a few attractions from the 1920's.
It was focused mostly on leisure since day one, it was built together with the funicular in 1901 to provide transportation between the city trams (later the subway) and the hilltop, where the amusement park was eventually built in the late 1910's. In those days, trams were somewhat expensive for the average joe, so many people rode them on weekends for fun. That's also the reason why it wasn't closed together with the other trams, that it was part of the route to the amusement park.
Also the funicular was the first such in all of Spain.
