>>1953739I recently bought my very first dedicated road bike (after over 10 years mountain biking and 4 different new bikes) and these skinny tires are ridiculous. I’ve previously put a few hundred miles on 32mm/55psi/tubeless road tires on my gravel bike and really enjoyed that on roads while also understanding the “doughy” sprinting feel that people talk about with bigger road tires; I was excited to go even narrower, but these 23mm tires at an arbitrarily-picked 90psi are insanely rumbly on road, they only felt ideal on the smoother multiuse paved paths and I can’t imagine anyone who’s insane enough to call this the ideal tire width for roads. The tubes and puncture protection tires surely dont help either… how is schwalbe durano plus anyways? Google says “the most puncture resistant road tire” so I’m assuming it’s fucking garbage, but I definitely need a way to mitigate goathead thorns, I’ve done tubeless for a decade but idk if that’s viable for these skinny sizes, I hear mixed experiences
>>1953744For real, it’s drastically slowing me down when I switch from sidewalk to road it’s bizarre. Not to mention the unreal vibrations (but hopefully new thick silicone bar tape could help). Unfortunately I can’t even fit a 5mm Allen key in my tire clearance with the current 23’s
>>1953747So I’m 160lbs/72Kg and srams tire pressure calc actually recommends 90psi just like I guessed, 80psi with “reinforced tires”, but during the ride I did today at 90psi I could barely see my tires flexing at the ground, I feel like I could go lower but I’m scared of not being able to feel when I’m approaching pinch flat territory due to the skinny
