>>1233289>So ITT let's talk about all kinds of sleeper trains and other overnight transport.Mfw I theoretically like the concept of sleeper trains, both for economical and ecological reasons, but IRL it's just a fucked up mess.
>Travel while you sleep, so you don't loose any time for your business or holiday purposes and dont produce a fuckload of CO2…but they appear to have the lowest priority, so you have to plan at least 2 hours delay, so a decent arrival turns into noon, or if you don't go to the terminal stop you'll be arriving at some god forsaken train station at 4 in the morning.
…but in order to get a good night of sleep, you need one of the highest two classes which are perpetually sold out and if you can get them, way more expensive than a plane ticket.
…but since DB gave up on them and SBB never had them, ÖBB now has a monopoly on the germosphere, meaning in order to book a ticket you have to go to
oebb.at at which point you just might as well either kill yourself your go straight to
lh.com to support the other monopoly, while preserving your sanity and saving money in the process.
Seriously, it's totally fucked up. A few weeks ago I actually managed to pick a Vienna-Hamburg connection without simply stopping in the process to kill every single fucker in the ÖBB headquarters, and when I finally proceeded to pay, the site simply told me that this is not possible and I should please select another class, after which the same spiel repeated. Fuck that.
