>>1569454There were 17" and 19" rims, you were considered an extreme downhill freak if you had 2.1" tires on your mtb, 1.6"-1,75" were basically the tire standard, 1.9" was already considered "oversized". 1"-1.3" slicks will do fine on both rim sizes. Been there, done that.
Official ETRTO chart (industry standard, always conservative) confirms 28mm/1.1" for 19mm rims, btw. .
