Line 1 starts on the southest and higher middle class neighborhood on the north side, the one neighborhood that's not a shithole like the rest, it cuts through it with 4 stations, than it goes through downtown and keeps going under most of the rich neighborhoods on the south area, it turns into a joke called "line 4", which is basically an extension of line 1. It's less crowed and the people taking it wouldn't make /pol/ start the ovens immediately. All of it's stations and tracks are underground.
Line 2 starts at the farthest most neighborhood in the north area, it goes through poor areas, it has problems related to rio's public safety like stations being closed because of drug wars on a nearby favela. It's more crowded than line 1 and it's blacker, it's more annoying to ride cause poor people are indeed annoying. All of it's stations and tracks are above ground.
