Sea level thrust isn't nearly the whole picture when it comes to speed or acceleration either, the 777's turbofans make like 500kn thrust and can't go faster than M0.89, inlet design, engine design, aerodynamics, etc. also play a very significant role. TWR is a better measure, but is only relevant at sea level and still ignores many other factors. Records are also a meme, I could easily bring up the Streak Eagle, and altitude/climb is in no way a direct measure of acceleration which is what OP was asking about.
