It's like people lost the ability to CNC aluminum or something. I suspect it's to save cost? Old school cranks had elaborate forms, saved weight, and came in beautiful anodized colors. Today's cranks are simple bars dipped in black tar.
What's baffling is the fact that today's top cranks are made of carbon and yet are in the same weight range as 90s aluminum cranks. WTF?
