>>1221071I don't have the pictures of it, the plans are locked away in some archive somewhere no doubt but back in the 1970s this American guy proposed bulldozing a suburb(Woolloongabba) in Brisbane and turning the entire thing into a giant intersection/crossover and building/extending every freeway into and out of the city to that point so that they'd all connect up.
Would have displaced a few thousand families, bulldozed a dozen historical locations AND most importantly made it so that every traffic jam in the city would be all interconnected so a jam in one area would eventually flow into and jam up another and so on until the entire city was gridlocked.
Then ended up bulldozing another suburb with less history in it a few years back and connecting a few tunnels to it, not as bad.
Also on the topic of Brisbane they got a different American to design the riverside expressway, which is a series of roads alongside and above the river(Pic Related) and so all the exits are on the right hand side despite everyone driving on the left hand side of the road.
Very confusing the first time you use it.
