The build is finished, that is to say, ridable and safe.
The Avid disk brakes came in the mail and they've been installed. It didn't come with an IS bracket, but I got a spare from a bike shop for no cost (I fucking love when LBS give your their useless spares for free). Cabling is sorted, the rear V-brake was balanced (I hate balancing them, it's such a chore), and now all that's really left to do is maybe work out cargo carrying capacity.
In the process of this build, I have accidentally turned my garage into a bike workshop. I am now capable of doing almost anything with a bike except for building wheels, installing hydraulic brakes and threading/facing.
Next time I might use half these tools is if a friend asks me to perform upgrades...
