With all the heavy vibration from machines and overhead cranes (and retarded coworkers lugging shit around), it's the only way it won't get knocked over. I have padding under the bars and saddle, you just can't see it.
You can see in this one that I just have a rag under the saddle, and a couple of pieces of foam rubber under the hoods. Nowadays I keep them on big 2" thick foam pads.
