My town used to have beautiful late 19th/early 20th century trolleys running all through the town (replete with dedicated bridges!), with a whole system of scenic bridged routes along the coast connecting the entire local area with a bonafide public transport system. Flash forward to today, when my one town alone has more people than the surrounding five towns did then, and we only have one extremely shitty busline for the entire county that uses horrid, ugly busses covered with Saul-tier lawyer wraps and which drops passengers off on the side of route 1 with zero shelter or seating. They literally blasted through granite and built miles upon miles of bridges -BEFORE THE TOWN EVEN HAD WIDESPREAD ELECTRICITY AND PEOPLE WERE STILL SHITTING IN OUTHOUSES AND BATHING IN CREEKS - only to rip them up and tear them down a few years later, all because Firestone, Standard Oil, & Co. wanted to sell more cars and tires and asphalt. I fucking hate it. It's so fucking dumb. Every time I pass by the ruins of our trolley bridge I want to scream. Absolutely senseless bullshit.
