So that 5 bolt mtb standard is several decades dead. You won't find new rings for it except NOS on ebay. Worth pricing but it's not cheap. Maybe a local shop has a box of old rings to look through. I tried that and didn't find any.
I'm in a similar position to you for my marin lol. I just bought all of pic rel for $35 locally online. I think you should try do something like that. Get a period crank in good condition. It's better to buy the rings together because then they're matched for best shifting, even if you just put them on your old crank because it's slightly better or whatever.
For cassettes definitely replace it. it's harder to gauge wear on those, and if a new chain is skipping, and the chainrings are like that, it's definitely dead. I'd prefer a shimano cassette, but the ratios are limited. If you don't find the ratios you want, then look at sunshine on aliexpress for more variety.
Also, i'd consider taking the opportunity to max low end range if you'd tour on it or ride serious climbs, or, deleting the range if it's a flatish town beater, maybe even going to 1x (not with fancy new parts, just with the old stuff, and a regular chainring). Chain retention is not an issue onroad.
