The only things people would prefer to go to a store for are food, medicine, and stuff that's used up quickly (soap, toilet paper, dog food, etc.) Some cornerstores selling produce, and a slightly larger store selling more expensive items would be all you need to replace a supermarket. People would switch to shopping online and hardly notice the difference. Or at least I'm pretty sure that's what Amazon believes is going to happen.
