Its 46/15 crank and cog and I use this bike for everything and ride it all year round in Fairbanks Alaska with temperatures going as high as 90F to as low as -50F, its fixed gear precisely because I can put my hands in my pockets when it gets too cold. I have no car so this is my main bike and I ride it all year, for hauling cargo I use a frame-pack(Not a bike frame pack, a back frame pack) and straps.
My backup bike is a Specialized Stump Jumper Alloy if there is a lot of snowfall. a lot of snowfall at once.
