Pic related will be the new metro line U5.
The purple part is the 1st phase (1. Bauabschnitt) and not expected to open before 2027
The rest is not expected to open before 2033
Also they have to build it through Central Station (Hbf) of course because this is the very curse of my home town: Every U-Bahn (underground metro) and every S-Bahn (suburban metro) route is serving Central Station.
Orange lines, like in the pic before, are corridors that are very likely to still be a big issue, at least unless the S-Bahn builds their proposed route.
