https://tabiris.com/archives/minesen202307/On June 30th there was a flood on Asa River in Yamamto Prefecture, which caused an indefinite suspension of services of Mine Line as various damages including the 6th Asa River Bridge between Shirougahara and Minami-Omine stations being washed away. This raises the question on whether the 46km line will be scrapped in the future as the damages is estimated at 1 Billion Yen and the line was operating at an average deficit of 460 Million Yen between 2019 and 2021. For reference the 2010 flood which caused damages to the 3rd Asa River Bridge between Yunoto and Atsu stations took 1.334 Billion Yen (various local governments footed half the bill) and fourteen months to repair.
