>>1700644Thanks anon! In fact, it was also my first time bivouacking at all. The first night introduced me to the holy concept of testing your gear before you need it... Pitching my tent for the first time while it started pouring rain was not fun, I made a ton of mistakes setting it up. The second night went a lot better, I had a perfect spot and plenty of time to set the tent up (

The second problem I encountered was my rear rack top bolts getting loose while pushing my bike over rocky and rooty terrain, the rack then fell backwards. Thank god my multitool had some small spanners on it. I bought some Loctite to make sure this never happens again.
Other than that, everything went well! Some background: I wanted to spend ~1400€ on a first bike to start bikepacking. Decided that buying a cheap old 26" rigid MTB and try on this first to see if I like it was more reasonable. (Decathlon Rockrider 310 to answer your question, nothing crazy). I'm planning on doing more trips before the end of the year on this bike but I'm pretty sure that next year I will invest in a rigid Surly Krampus with 29+ 3.0 tyres, I want to be able to ride on the technical terrain where I have to push this 26" old boy.
>>1700647I'm sure you will anon, do you already have a bike?
