I am looking for a bicycle that's good for urban riding, but also is very capable for countryside "touring/treking" riding. Basically, a practical all-rounder. Does not need to be fast, but low rolling resistance is a bonus.
Following a holiday to Weedland, I have become aware of the bicycle brand, Gazelle. Pic rel is the Charmonix T30, a 3x10 hybrid which has this bizarre technology known as hydraulic rim brakes.
It's a cute bicycle, but I also keep thinking that I would probably buy it and replace parts on it immediately. That and find someone to redo the brakes for UK config.
I do not need a road bike. I already have a custom built one I really love riding on, but it has 0 practicality and is no fun to ride in cities due to to the aggressive riding style and idiot pedestrians not understanding bicycle paths.
I currently own a shit Halfords purchased Apollo Elyse hybrid for this style of riding, but it's sometimes a total pig to ride as it's somehow both too heavy for climbing, but has too much rolling resistance for any amount of speed.
I have also looked into Ortler, which seems like a very comfy Austrian brand. However, they too seem to have strange component choices, such as 7 speed freewheel gears that you can find on cheap Halfords bicycles.
I have the unfortunate situation of living somewhere with plenty of 8% gradients. These locations are pretty miserable to be in if you don't have the gearing, especially on a heavier bicycle.
