Recently started dating a girl who lives on the 3rd floor of some old apartment building about 10 miles away. I've been biking down there and carrying the bike upstairs every time I go over because it's pretty valuable and there are plenty of junkies roaming around the area. Today her landlady gave her a long lecture that bikes aren't allowed in the building per the lease because someone fell down the stairs a long time ago and broke their back. She tried arguing a bit and asking to use a tiny other storage space, but nothing got through.
She just bought a bike too, and now we're faced with a situation where we may not be able to bring them into the place. Now, there are quite a few bikes in the neighborhood I've noticed locked up either to wrought iron fences or sidewalk bike racks, and it doesn't seem like they get messed with. Should I just buy some extra chain to supplement my U-lock, glue BBs into socket heads, and leave it locked outside or insist that the bike come inside?
