I don’t carry a kit with me, so if it happens I’m just as fucked either way. Can’t even walk into a local bike shop with the keyed nuts, the only option is to get the truck and haul the bike home. Having the very least-quick release option possible might not work for everyone, but it suits me just fine. Keyed nuts with a through axel would be even better though.
