I got new chains for my bike, but I'm having a lot of difficulty removing the old chains. The chain is rusted to hell and even dangerous to ride. I tried doing the hammer-and-nails technique to remove the rivets since I don't own a chain tool, but no matter how hard I hammered, the rivet wouldn't budge, even when applying WD-40 on it. I decided to order a chain tool which should be here in a few days, but I'm still worried that not even the chain tool will remove the rivets. I even tried to saw off the chain to no avail.
Should I just wait for the chain tool to arrive and try then, or is there any alternative methods to removing the chain? I do not care the least bit about the old chain, so every idea is welcome.
