This was just south of Ruby Lake, where a guy gave me a ride to a hot spring (Ruby Lake doesn't get many cycling visitors), and then I saw lots of wild horses and almost 0 people until Ely. Sheldon antelope refuge was also amazing, as was Great Basin National Park.
For the long trip through California, I followed the Adventure Cycling Sierra Cascades route, which was mostly on the east side of the Sierra, although it went through Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks, and then a chunk of Angeles national forest, which got me fairly close to Fresno and Los Angeles respectively.
The orange line is also an Adventure Cycling route, while all the others are of my own design.
